Arrest Made In Fatal Cobb County Arson
One person was killed when an Austell residence caught on fire.
MARIETTA, GA -- An arrest has been made in connection with a case of arson in Austell. On Oct. 23, 2018, Cobb fire crews responded to a structure fire on Drennon Avenue around 7:30 am, and arrived to find the two-story on fire. A man and a woman had already escaped, but firefighters had to rescue a third, female victim. That victim later died at WellStar Cobb Medical Center.
Police now say new information has led them to arrest the male victim, Richard Elsner, and charge him with one count of arson-endangerment and felony murder.
Elsner is currently at WellStar Cobb Hospital awaiting surgery.
