Atlanta Fire Lieutenant Accused Of Child Abuse

Police say the victim suffered a "non-accidental traumatic brain injury."

SMYRNA, GA — An Atlanta firefighter is being accused in a child abuse case, according to a press release from the Smyrna Police Department. Ahmard Wright, the accused, is a lieutenant with the City of Atlanta Fire Department.

The Smyrna Police Department responded to the Scottish Rite Hospital in the early hours of March 4, 2018, on a report of child abuse. They learned that a child, who lives on Park Manor Drive, was victim "to non-accidental traumatic brain injury," the press release says.

Police investigated the report and got a criminal warrant against Wright for first-degree cruelty to a child, a felony.
