Car Crashes During Police Chase; Suspect at Large

The crash happened shortly after 1 pm at I-285 and South Cobb Drive.

SMYRNA, GA β€” Police are looking for a suspect who led them on a high-speed chase from Atlanta into Cobb County.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, a trooper attempted to pull over a 2010 Nissan Altima over for speeding on I-75 north at Mt. Paran Road, but the driver didn't stop and a pursuit followed.

The driver exited onto I-285 west and the chase ended when the Nissan struck a tractor-trailer near the South Cobb Drive exit. The car then struck the median wall, crossed back across all lanes, and struck the guardrail on the right shoulder.

After the car came to a stop, the driver ran from the scene. He has not been located.

Three other occupants in the car suffered minor injuries and were transported to Kennestone Hospital.
