City Council to Vote on Annexation, Name Change
The Smyrna City Council meets on Monday evening, July 7.
The Smyrna City Council is looking at a relatively light schedule for its Monday evening meeting.
St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church has asked that the City of Smyrna annex its priests' residence into the city. The residence is located on 18.7 acres of land in the 4200 block of King Springs Road, though the church expects to close on additional 1.1 acres of land within the next 45 days. According to documents filed with the city, three registered voters occupy the residence.
Another item on the city's agenda for Monday is the potential renaming of The Village at Lake Park, a luxury apartment complex off of Windy Hill Road. Should the Smyrna City Council approve the name change, the complex's new title will simply be "The Village."
Monday's meeting of the Smyrna City Council will take place at Smyrna City Hall and will begin at 7:30 p.m. The meeting will be broadcast live on Charter Cable Channel 19. If you cannot attend the meeting in person or watch it on television, you will find a link to streaming video of the meeting here.
