Here are the top three stories in Smyrna-Vinings today:
- Cobb County residents say they are being forced out of their homes after investors renovated the units with plans of leasing them at a higher price. Renters were given a 30-day eviction notice last week. Atlanta Legal Aid said this is a growing problem as affordable housing and low-income options are dwindle. Long-term options to increase affordable housing are being discussed by some Georgia lawmakers. (WSB Radio)
- In nearby Marietta, a van fell over an embankment on I-75 after the driver lost control on Bells Ferry Lane yesterday, Feb. 22. The driver's husband was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene. The driver was injured and transported to a local hospital. Marietta police are investigating the crash and have not released the identifies of the Tennessee couple. (11Alive.com WXIA)
- Staff of the Robert Williams Museum of Papermaking are hosting an "adult paper arts" course at the Smyrna Library. The first workshop on Mar. 17 will teach "The Japanese Stab Binding," the second will teach the "Petal Fold Book" technique on Mar. 24, and the third will teach "Quilling" on Mar. 31.
