Cobb Rotary Clubs Make Cobb and the World a Better Place

A recent gathering of 45 of Cobb Rotary’s leaders highlighted how active Cobb’s seven Rotary Clubs are. The Clubs, (East Cobb, Marietta, Marietta Metro, North Cobb, Smyrna, South Cobb, Vinings Cumberland) have over 400 members between them. The diverse men and women of the clubs include many of Cobb’s civic, business and community leaders.
The Cobb Rotary Clubs have various fundraisers and individual members reach into their own pockets to do what they can for local, regional, national and international service projects. East Cobb Rotary Club, for instance, raises $85,000 in its annual East Cobb Job; Vinings Rotary also has a fundraiser, billed as the metro area’s fastest 5K; it has raised nearly $1 million over the past 20 years. North Cobb has its Smoke on the Lake annual barbecue. Various clubs have golf tournaments, and also the 400+ members donate generously.
More importantly, with the funds, they do nearly 100 projects a year. For instance, they support the Marietta Performance Learning Center, provide the Cobb Adult Education Center for GED test vouchers, the Center for Children and Young Adults with new bedding, hand out dictionaries to area Third Graders, buy robotics and science kits for middle schools, recognize police departments, fire departments and Veterans, provide funds for cancer hospitals in Bangladesh, fight diseases like polio and Alzheimer’s, provide disaster relief for regional victims of hurricanes, tornadoes, and much, much more.
