The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Smyrna-Vinings.
Hey, friends. It's Monday in Smyrna-Vinings and I'm back in your inbox to get you caught up on the most important things happening locally. Here goes...
First, today's weather:
A t-storm around in the p.m. High: 84 Low: 70.
Here are the top three stories today in Smyrna-Vinings and surrounding communities:
- The Cobb County Board of Commissioners will hold the first public hearing on the millage rate on Tuesday, Jul. 12. The proposed millage rate is the same as last year, but an increase in property values has necessitated a tax increase under state law. Three hearings are required, and the other two will be on Jul. 19 and Jul. 26, before the adoption of the final budget. (Cobb County Courier)
- There will be a career fair and tenant forum on Jul. 30 at the Cobb police training academy. It will feature Judge Brendan Murphy, Cobb Legal Aid, the team of Cobb District Attorney Flynn Broady, and many more. Be sure to come prepared with your resume and business-appropriate attire for onsite interviews. If you don't have a resume, CobbWorks will have a mobile office at the event to assist you in writing one. (Cobb County Courier)
- Good news for prospective homebuyers! Five new properties have been listed in the Smyrna-Vinings area. Two of the listings are in Atlanta, but the properties in Smyrna include 3097 Reeves St. SE, 1504 Slopeside Loop, and 1983 Silver Birch Drive SE #6. (Smyrna-Vinings Patch)

We've been getting so much positive feedback about the Smyrna-Vinings Daily that we're starting to get a big head. Want to bring us back down to earth with some constructive feedback? If so, take our simple — and quick! — reader survey. Your feedback will help us make sure we're covering the kind of local news, events and scuttlebutt you really care about. And it will help us toward our goal of being an indispensable local resource and the last email you'd ever unsubscribe from.
We'd be so appreciative of your feedback that, if you take the survey, we'll enter your email address in a drawing for a small mountain of Patch swag. You know you want that tote bag — so click the link and give it to us straight. Thank you!
