Man Drowned in Chattahoochee River Was Smyrna Resident
The 20-year-old's body was discovered at approximately 2:19 p.m. Wednesday; he disappeared on Tuesday.

Cobb County public safety personnel have released the identity of the man whose body was recovered from the Chattahoochee River on Wednesday afternoon.

Niles Young, 20, was off of Sandy Point on Tuesday with a friend when they tried to swim across the river, according to the Department of Public Safety. Young apparently became distressed and went under. Rescue personnel were immediately called out, but the search was suspended due to darkness.
Youngβs body was located in the river at 2:19 p.m. Wednesday by recovery divers, the department said. Youngβs body was handed over to the Cobb County Medical Examinerβs Office for autopsy.
