Good morning, everybody! It's me, Carla Varner, your host of the Smyrna-Vinings Daily — back in your inbox with all the most important things happening in town these days. Here we go...

Here are the top three stories today in Smyrna-Vinings:

The program, which launched in 2014, is designed to develop the future leaders of Cobb County's business community. Prospective participants can apply online now through Aug. 26; contact Rebecca Chadwick at 770-859-236 or rchadwick@cobbchamber.org. (MDJOnline.com)
  2. Fire Chief Roy Acree, who has served the City of Smyrna for 32 years, will be retiring at the end of the month.
