🌱 COVID-19 Surges In Atlanta Metro + Weekend Open Houses In Smyrna

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Smyrna-Vinings.

Hello, Smyrna-Vinings! Carla Varner here with your Thursday edition of the Smyrna-Vinings Daily, filled with all the local news you need to know right now.

First, today's weather:

A heavy t-storm in the p.m. High: 86 Low: 71.

Here are the top three stories today in Smyrna-Vinings:

  1. COVID-19 numbers are surging in the area, and some counties are being hit harder than others. In the whole Atlanta metro area, a total of 1,441,488 cases have been recorded since health officials have begun collecting data. Of all the counties and independent cities in the area, however, Pike County has the most COVID-19 cases per capita. The 5,713 infections represent 31,595 infections for every 100,000 people, which is a higher per capita rate than anywhere else in the Atlanta metro. Click the link to see more data on the issue. (Patch)
  2. Congressman David Scott, the chairman of the House Agriculture Committee, voted to pass $18,108,519 of funding for community projects. Among those projects, three are located in Cobb County. The Chattahoochee Riverlands will see a bike/pedestrian bridge feasibility study with $900,000 granted. Also approved was $1 million for a pedestrian bridge on Cobb Parkway. Click the link to see the full list of approved funds. (Cobb County Courier)
  3. Looking for a new home in the Smyrna-Vinings area? Don't miss these five open houses in Smyrna and Atlanta, all scheduled for this weekend. Visit Patch to view specs, pricing, photos, and scheduling. (Smyrna-Vinings Patch)
