Here are the top three stories today in Smyrna-Vinings:

- Police in nearby Marietta investigated a sketch of a gun with a date and a message found in a student bathroom at Marietta Sixth Grade Academy. The drawing included the statement "be ready" with the date Jan. 19. Marietta police said that they didn't believe the threat was credible after the investigation. Still, the school released a statement saying it had increased security and adult supervision for the remainder of the week. (WSB Radio)
- A city councilman in nearby Atlanta proposed the creation of a website that would help Atlanta residents find affordable housing. The website would work to compile affordable housing listings from multiple partners and third-party companies. The city council will review the resolution during its meeting on Jan. 24.
