Austell Man Dead in Sunday Morning Shooting

A man was found shot inside a vehicle on Six Flags Drive.

AUSTELL, GA — Police are investigating an apparent homicide that happened early Sunday morning.

The incident happened near the intersection of Westwood Parkway and Six Flags Drive. Police say they received a call that a person had been shot. When they arrived near the entrance to the West Park Apartment complex, they discovered that the driver of a Chevrolet Trailblazer had likely driven into some trees after being shot.

Within minutes of locating the victim, Larry Grigsby, 42, of Austell, he succumbed to his injuries. Not only were the victim’s two children discovered uninjured in the back seat, detectives believe they were in the vehicle at the time their father was shot.

Crime scene investigators worked the scene until 6 am Sunday morning.
