Subway Thief Swiped Cash From Register: Police

Robbery happened at Smyrna restaurant, police say.

SMYRNA, GA -- Cobb County police are searching for a thief who walked into a Subway sandwich shop and robbed it by brazenly taking money from a cash register.

The incident happened Thursday about 7:15 a.m. at the restaurant at 5185 South Cobb Drive in Smyrna, police said.

An employee had opened the cash register for a transaction, and that's when the thief struck, police said. The perpetrator fled the business and drove away in a black Chevrolet sedan, witnesses told police.

The robber is a black male of average build in his 50s. He is further described as:

Height: 5’09” tall

Facial: "Unkept" black or gray beard, missing some teeth

Clothing:Black jacket, baggy jeans (with zippers on the pockets) and a gray "skull cap"

No one was injured in the crime, police said.
