Police: Speed, Alcohol Likely Contributed to Fatal Austell Crash

AUSTELL, GA — Police believe speed and alcohol may have been contributing factors in a Saturday morning fatal crash on Old Alabama Road.

A 2011 Dodge Ram truck was traveling northbound on South Gordon Road when the driver failed to maintain his lane after going through the intersection of Old Alabama Road. After leaving the western edge of the road, the truck continued in a northerly direction and through the parking lot of 1956 Old Alabama Road. After striking a tree on the northern edge of the parking lot, the truck caught fire.

The driver was deceased at the scene. The victim's name has not been released.
