Here are the top three stories in Smyrna-Vinings today:
- Would you like to learn more about how the county takes care of the water? The Cobb County Water System is accepting applications through Jan. 16 for its 2023 Outreach Volunteer Program. The six training sessions will cover topics like local watersheds, water pollution prevention, and more. (Cobb County Government via Facebook)
- The Perimeter Mall in nearby Dunwoody reopened on Saturday with increased security after a shootout on Friday evening. The shootout occurred during an argument between two men near the mall's food court. A statement from the mall did not disclose details of the enhanced security but did confirm that there was added security and police presence at the mall. (11Alive.com WXIA)
- A new report showed that COVID-19 case numbers and transmission rates in Cobb County are on the rise, particularly in school-aged groups. The group with the highest rates was preschoolers. (Cobb County Courier)
