Qualifying for Vacant Position on Smyrna Civil Service Board Ends Next Week

The new position will be filled through a secret ballot election restricted to the city's police officers and firefighters.

The City of Smyrna is seeking qualified candidates to fill an open position on the city’s civil service board.

According to the city’s website, the new board member will be elected through a secret ballot by eligible members of the city’s police and fire departments. The new board member’s term will run from Nov. 1, 2014 to Oct. 31, 2016.

Candidates for the office must be at least 25 years old, a resident of the City of Smyrna for at least one year, must be registered to vote in the city, and must not be a current or former city employee or relative of a current city employee.

To begin your candidacy, please visit the City of Smyrna Human Resources Department, located on the 1st floor of Smyrna City Hall, any time between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. until Wednesday, Oct. 15. Candidates must file their candidacy with Civil Service Board Clerk Rachelle Ballard for their candidacy to be official.
