Smyrna Carjacking With Child Inside Leads to Chase, One Arrest

SMYRNA, GA — One man has been arrested and police are looking for several other suspects from a Tuesday night carjacking that involved a child inside the stolen vehicle.

The car was stolen from a QuikTrip at South Cobb Drive and the East-West Connector, according to Smyrna police. The father was inside the store around 10 pm. He had stopped at the station and was walking around to the passenger side of the vehicle when the suspect jumped into the driver's seat and drove off.

A short police chase ensued which ended in a crash on Cherokee Trail. The vehicle was also being followed by a second vehicle with several men inside. When the first car crashed, the other men abandoned their vehicle and fled on foot.

Police are still looking for the other suspects.

The child was unharmed during the incident.
