Smyrna Councilman to Announce Candidacy for Mayor Friday

Wade Lnenicka will run against Max Bacon during the upcoming mayoral race in the Jonquil City.

A Smyrna city council member will formally announce his candidacy for mayor at a public rally outside Brawner Hall at noon on Friday.

Councilman Wade Lnenicka is challenging Mayor Max Bacon for the seat which Bacon has held since 1985. According to Lnenicka’s campaign, the councilman wants to bring a new style of leadership to the mayor’s chair and wants to encourage “positive, collaborative action” to improve the city’s schools, city management, public safety, quality of life for seniors, and more.

Lnenicka, a seven-term councilman, regards himself as a fiscal conservative who wants to be a good steward of the city’s coffers while still stumping for projects like the potential transformation of the former Emory-Adventist Hospital into a VA facility.
