Two People Killed in Cobb Weekend Crashes
One happened in Austell and the other in Powder Springs, both on Sunday morning.

MARIETTA, GA — Two people were killed Sunday morning in two separate crashes in Cobb County.
One happened around 2:30 am on I-20 between Factory Shoals Road and Riverside Parkway in Austell. Police say Victor Ryan Akan, 35, of Douglasville, was driving a Nissan Maxima on I-20 eastbound when he veered off the highway and overturned after colliding with two trees.
The second happened shortly after 9 am at Bullard and Govanett roads in Powder Springs.

Witnesses told police that a a blue 2007 Yamaha R6 motorcycle was traveling southbound on Bullard at a high rate of speed when he passed a car in a no-passing zone. As he approached Govanett Road, the driver of a Toyota Camry attempted to turn left from McEachern Woods Drive.
Police believe that in an attempt to miss the Toyota, the motorcycle's rider locked his brakes. The motorcycle skidded into the northbound lane and struck the car.

The motorcycle's rider, Evan Carter, 18, of Powder Springs, was taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital, where he later died.
The driver of the Toyota has been identified as Charles Rowland Jr., 52, of Powder Springs. He was not injured.
