Celebrate the Spirit of Mableton at 7th Annual Mableton Community Day
Mableton Day Is an Opportunity to Take Advantage of What the Community Has to Offer and Have a Marvelous Time in the Process
A group of motivated Mableton citizens are taking things into their own hands. They are tired of hearing of budget cuts and will make their community thrive no matter what, and have come together once more to organize the annual Mableton Day celebration, which will be held on May 19 at the on Floyd Road.
If it is anything like last year’s, there will be fun for everyone with the various events offered.
The day kicks off with the Mableton Day 5K. This year a half-mile fun run, The Mableton Jr., has been added for children.

Musical and other entertainment will be performed throughout the day on two separate stages. There will be booths for local artists, businesses and other organizations. Activities for kids will include hula-hoops, bean bag toss, inflatables, face painting, and arts and crafts. To add to the excitement of the day the Old School Car Show will also be there.
This event depends on sponsors, and anyone who donates can earn points for their favorite local non-profit.

This year, there will be additional focus on family health, with the added help of Cobb Douglas Health Department, the AARP, and Lifelong Mableton. Expect more booths that want to help families lead healthier lives, make more healthful food choices and exercise.
There will be an award for Citizen of the Year, Business Person of the Year and Teacher of the Year. Mableton Day will be the Saturday before the last week of the school year, so the kids will want their teacher to take the prize.
Moreover, any non-profit organization in the South Cobb area can compete for a grant of $1,000 that will be awarded at the end of the day. To find out more about this, go to www.mabletonday.com or call Albert McRae at 678-590-2803 or email admin@mabletonday.com.
This is what one of the organizers, Albert McRae III, co-founder of Amateur Advocate Association Inc., had to say about Mableton Day, “[It] has garnered a spirit of community; it has grown and put a lot of focus on non-profit organizations that do good work in the Mableton area.”
This event was started seven years ago by the parents of the participants of the Junior Falcons program to promote their next spring football season. The day has grown and is now presented by three non-profit organizations: Mableton Improvement Coalition (MIC), The South Cobb Arts Alliance (SCAA) and Amateur Advocate Association (AAA). The celebration has evolved into a full-fledged community day embracing all of Mableton.
