Commission Candidate Calls for Public Safety Town Hall
Public Safety is a major concern and a quality of life issue in District 4.
Mableton, GA – On Monday, I declared my candidacy for Cobb County Commission– District 4 and immediately called for a public safety town hall in the District 4 community to address the quality of life issues of ongoing and increasing crime in South Cobb. My press release comments are below:
“Over the past 60 days I have watched forums being held in other parts of the county, but not in South Cobb, which has been described as one of the communities with some of the highest crime rates. This is a quality of life issue that cannot be ignored. We have families, seniors, and veterans in our community who want a safe place to call home, yet their sense of security is challenged everyday by ever increasing crime. We are home to one of the largest economic engines of the state, Six Flags Over Georgia, yet less than a mile away sits one of the worst crime areas in the county. Many of us in the community have been urging the County and the South Cobb Redevelopment Authority to develop Magnolia Crossing, 50 acres of prime real estate that will make this area the next big economic boom for Cobb, however, we know that serious developers and businesses will not want to come to our area until we address the issues of crime. Many citizens of the area have complained about the police precinct on Six Flags Drive that is no longer there. What’s left behind is rampant and out of control crime. It is time for us to address this and I believe a public safety town hall is vital to this effort.
We want the same things in our community that occurs in other communities of Cobb County. Other districts have held crime prevention town halls this year and it is time for one to be held in District 4. We want to discuss public safety staffing, the utilization of technology to prevent crimes, community policing, and other public safety topics to address this quality of life issue in South Cobb.

Today, I was the first person in line to declare my candidacy because I made a promise to the community to continue the work I have started in South Cobb. Once elected as District 4 Commissioner, one of my top objectives will be to work effective with our Police Leadership and workforce to build a stronger partnership with the community. It will take all of us working together to reduce and eliminate crime in South Cobb. It will also be an objective of mine to ensure that the workforce continues to receive better wages and benefits to ensure that the people hired and trained for these important roles remain in Cobb County utilizing those acquired skill-sets to protect the people of our community.”
