Bridging the Gap is a 40-hour medical interpreter training program developed by the Cross Cultural Health Care Program.
The training is geared to persons who work in a healthcare setting and who play a pivotal role in ensuring that patients and providers understand each other. It is also offered to bilingual individuals wishing to fulfill their 40 hour medical interpreter pre-requisite for National Certification.
At the conclusion of the program, participants will be able to demonstrate concrete skills in medical interpretation and patient advocacy.

A unique aspect of this curriculum is its treatment of culture as an integral part of patient-provider communication.
All participants must undergo an initial language skill assessment. Acceptance in the program is dependent upon the outcome.
