
Last Friday's games looked like a snapshot of the entire season for each of the area's football teams. won an overtime thriller, won handily and got blown out.
There are still games to play, but each team has pretty much showed who they are to this point in the season. The playoffs are on the horizon for Pebblebrook and South Cobb. Can they compete for a postseason spot? A win this week will go a long way in determining that.

The Falcons came into last week looking to even their record; they came out with a chance at a playoff run. It took three overtimes, but Pebblebrook proved that it can beat a good football team. The Falcons trailed at the half 14-0, but stormed back to tie the game with two of the most unlikely touchdowns of the season.
With just over five minutes remaining in the contest, North Cobb had the ball inside Pebblebrook's 10-yard line. The Warriors fumbled and the Falcons picked it up and took it 90 yards to make the score 14 to 7.

Then, on the ensuing kickoff, the Falcons kicked the ball to the 1-yard line. The Warriors fumbled again and the ball was recovered in the end-zone for the tying score.
In overtime, both teams traded touchdowns before CJ Goodman passed to Perry Seldon in the third overtime for the winning score.
The Falcons are 3-0 in region play and are in control of their own destiny to make the playoffs. If they can win the final four regular season games, Pebblebrook will make the playoffs.
McEachern will be the toughest test so far, this season. However, the Indians are coming off of their first loss and could be vulnerable to an upset.

Kennesaw Mountain at South Cobb
The Eagles saved their season last week with a big 33-24 win over Harrison. Things looked bleak at halftime, as Harrison had a 13-10 edge, but the second half proved that South Cobb is in it for the long haul this year.
Quarterback Stephon Masha played his best game of the season, completing nine passes on 11 attempts for 227 yards and four touchdowns. Receivers Gary Jones and Carlos Anderson had a combined six receptions for 112 yards a piece.
Defensive back Jamal Thomas came up big with two interceptions, one ran back for a touchdown. The second interception essentially ended the game, as Thomas picked it off and took it 35 yards for the score.
The Eagles have a great chance to add to their 4-2 record this week against win-less Kennesaw Mountain. A win this week would even the Falcons region record and keep them in playoff contention.

Whitefield Academy: Bye
The bye week could not have come at a better time for Whitefield Academy. The Wolfpack have lost three straight games by a combined 123-26. At this point, the playoffs are out of the question, but Whitefield can still finish respectably.
The bright spot this season has been the play of quarterback Max Kemether. In last week's loss to First Presbyterian, Kemether completed 22 of 36 passes for 182 yards.
The next opponent on the schedule for the Wolfpack is Strong Rock on Oct. 21. The Patriots have lost three in a row themselves by a combined score of 130-43. So, both teams find themselves in the same boat. With a week to prepare, anything can happen. More on this game next week.
