More Trouble for Austell Armed Robbery Suspect

She faces new charges.

A Douglasville woman already in custodyΒ in connection with a June 27Β armed robbery atΒ the Blair Bridge RoadΒ Budget InnΒ in Austell is facing new charges.

Just before the June 27Β armed robbery, Austell police pulledΒ Brittany ReneeΒ Simpkins overΒ at Flint Hill Road andΒ Parkside Drive, according to an arrest warrant issued this week. TheΒ driver's side headlight was out. When the officer asked for her identification, she said she did not have her license with her.Β SheΒ was issued two traffic citations, but allegedlyΒ affixed another person's signature to the documents,Β police said.

That is whyΒ Cobb authorities this weekΒ chargedΒ Simpkins with first-degree forgery, driving without a license, giving a false name and date of birth,Β and a headlights violation.

Simpkins andΒ Rhonda Faye Tyler of Lithia SpringsΒ have been in theΒ Cobb County Adult Detention Center since late JuneΒ on charges of aggravated assault and aggravated battery.

Tyler allegedlyΒ rented a room at the Budget InnΒ andΒ lured a man to the room "with the promise of a 'party,' " according to an earlierΒ arrest warrant.

About 3:30 a.m. June 27, Tyler left the room. That's when Simpkins and an unidentified male allegedlyΒ entered the room andΒ overpowered the man, according to the warrant.

The unidentified male accomplice threatened to kill the man andΒ allegedly used a handgun to strikeΒ him on the head several times, records show.Β Simpkins and the accomplice allegedly took the man'sΒ wallet, cell phone, car keys andΒ 2012 Chevrolet Camaro, police said.
