North Marietta Parkway Closures Begin Friday

The interchange at Interstate 75 also will be shut down over the next five weekends, starting Friday.

The Georgia Department of Transportation will be closing a portion of the North Marietta Parkway for the next five weekends to make repairs.

The maintenance project goes into effect this Friday, Oct. 11, and is scheduled to be completed by Nov. 11.Β 

Included in the road work are concrete repairs from Cobb Parkway to Wallace Road and the North Marietta Parkway interchange at Interstate 75.

The DOT emphasizes that the closures will be in effect only on the weekends.Β 

The work is being done now to avoid cold weather that affects paving work, and before the holiday season begins.Β

Here are more details, per a Georgia DOT release:

Beginning atΒ 9:00 p.m. Friday, the ramps from I-75 northbound and southbound to the North 120 Loop (Exit 265) will be closed and barricades will be placed on State Route 120 at US 41/SR 3 and at Wallace Road. Police officers will be at each barricade location enforcing the closures. All of the barricades will be removed byΒ 5:00 a.m. MondayΒ morning.

The same schedule will apply for the following four weekends until November 11thΒ when the work is expected to be completed, weather permitting. If the work is cancelled one or more of the weekends, it will be rescheduled in subsequent weekends, excluding holiday weekends.

Motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes and to avoid the area if possible during the closures.Β 

β€œWe are asking motorists to please bear with us as we try to complete this necessary work as quickly as possible,” said Georgia DOT district construction engineer ShunΒ Pringle. β€œOnce we finish I believe people will be pleased with the improvements.”
