Out 5 Days, Austell Man Returns to Jail

He allegedly threw his mother on the ground and charged toward his sister with knives.

An Austell man allegedly charged toward his sister with knives, threw hisΒ mother on the groundΒ and threatened to burn her Panda RoadΒ house down.

About 11 a.m. Monday,Β Michael Leon Ward was in a "heated physical altercation" with his sister and his mother.

"The accused was in a 'rage' when he entered the kitchen and began smashing plates," according to the warrant. "He also went into his mother's car and pulled off the plastic around the door handle, breaking it."

Ward's sister told police that her brother "grabbed two knives from the living room and ... ran at her with his arms above his head, bothΒ knives pointed at her."

That isn't all that Ward is accused of doing.

According to the warrant,Β he allegedlyΒ snatched the mother'sΒ purse, pushed her into a wall, cursed at her andΒ threw her on the ground.

"The accused threwΒ (his mother)Β down so hard that she injured her hand," according to the warrant.

When the mother told Ward that she calledΒ the police,Β he allegedly left the home andΒ said,Β "They better come deep." Police responded to the sceneΒ and recoveredΒ a knife in the yard.

Ward was arrested Monday morning on charges that include aggravated assault, simple battery, terroristic threats and criminal trespass. He is in the Cobb County Adult Detention Center without bond.

According to online jail records, he had justΒ spent 36 days in the county jailΒ on charges that included theft by conversion and marijuana possession.Β He wasΒ released June 19, five days before the alleged family dispute.
