Stand with Monica

On December 12th 2019 I was wrongfully evicted from my apartment 2 weeks before Christmas. I did not let that stop me I kept going.
I was known in the community as renters advocate. This eviction shocked my family and the community. My daughter was home on Christmas break from college.
This was before Covid 2020. When Covid shut down work, residents turned to me for resources. I was able to organize food distribution and help residents with locating funds rent and mortgage assistance.
With work in the community was able to leverage
funding to help assist with rent and mortgage assistance . Residents was able to learn from me how to advocate for resources and attended meetings with me.

The likelihood for a black woman to appear in eviction court in Cobb County and across the nation is extremely high especially if that person does not have a government subsidy( section 8 voucher) if that person is the only income in the household and if that person
speaks up about maintenance neglect. Before Covid Cobb County magistrate court was wall to wall with black families being evicted and evictions have returned to those numbers.

You see my eviction was suppose to embarrass me and shut me down it made me stronger and want to help even more in my community.

My daughter graduated from college in 2022 and my son will be finishing high school this year.

For and Monica Evette DeLancy to have accomplished raising a family, making sure her daughter graduated from college, started a non profit from scratch, recognized by 21 community organizations ,Against the odds she is still standing
