Common Core is under attack, with claims that the standards are too high, or too low, or a federally mandated imposition. Likewise, anti-testing zealots offer up all manner of excuses for opposing the innovative assessments that help gauge progress toward meeting the standards—and aim to assess the higher-order skills that are the coin of the realm for workforce competency and civic engagement.
Those in the business community who understand how it can make students more competitive strongly support the Common Core, and the courageous states that are moving forward with implementation, know better.
