Two Arrested in Austell Armed Robbery

The robbery took place Thursday morning.

Two Douglas CountyΒ womenΒ have been arrested in connection with an armed robbery atΒ the Blair Bridge RoadΒ Budget InnΒ in Austell.

Rhonda Faye Tyler of Lithia SpringsΒ allegedlyΒ rented the room whereΒ the armed robbery occurred andΒ lured a man to the room "with the promise of a 'party,' " according to an arrest warrant.

About 3:30 a.m. Thursday, Tyler left the room. That's whenΒ her suspected accomplices,Β Brittany Renee Simpkins of Douglasville and an unidentified male, allegedlyΒ entered the room andΒ overpowered the man, according to the warrant.

The unidentified male accomplice threatened to kill the man andΒ allegedly used a handgun to strikeΒ him on the head several times, records show.Β Simpkins and the accomplice allegedly took the man'sΒ wallet, cell phone, car keys andΒ 2012 Chevrolet Camaro, police said.

Tyler and Simpkins were arrested on charges of aggravated assault and aggravated battery.Β They are in the Cobb County Adult Detention Center without bond.Β Simpkins has two holds on her release, one out of Paulding County and anotherΒ out of Rockmart.
