Walton Raids South Cobb's Playoff Hopes
South Cobb worked hard all season and broke school records, but couldn't break through to another round of the playoffs.
The Walton Raiders dashed the hopes of the South Cobb Eagles, who came into this game riding high off an unexpected win in last week's first round of the playoffs. The Raiders crushed the Eagles and ended the game with a 42-7 victory.
All their hopes of advancing to Round 3 were dashed early in the game as Walton forced South Cobb to punt after just three plays.
At that point, Walton High School running back Tyren Jones took over. The Class 5A leading rusher with over 1,700 yards showed off his talent scoring four first half touchdowns, including one of 47 yards to start the scoring. He also took a screen pass 58 yards for a touchdown with 1.9 seconds before the half.

Jones also had a 95-yard scamper called back due to a holding penalty and after his fifth touchdown of the night at 10:11 of third quarter, his evening was over.
Outmatched all night, South Cobb did manage a score as senior running back Chris Beck scored on a 43-yard run, showing there was no quit in the South Cobb Eagles.

When asked after the game what he said to the players, South Cobb High School Coach Ed Koester stated, "You hate to end on a note like this. This one hurts; it hurts because these kids are competitors and you hate to see it end like this for them. But you also have to give your respect to Walton as they have a great team and played good all night."
