• Effingham County Advances Senior School Tax Exemption (effinghamherald.net) — Effingham County leaders meeting in Springfield have advanced a major increase to the school tax homestead exemption for qualifying seniors, potentially wiping out school taxes for most who now receive it. The change still needs approval from state legislators and county voters in 2027, and officials are exploring ways, including OpenAI-related revenues, to replace lost school funds without shifting the burden to other homeowners. 
• Softball team wins 3 of 5 (jdledger.com) — Jeff Davis High's Lady Jackets capped a five-game stretch by beating Effingham County 7-2 in Springfield, bouncing back from an earlier loss to the same team. The week included dominant hitting performances, a shutout in Fitzgerald, and a split against highly ranked Vidalia, with several players delivering multi-hit games and strong pitching outings.
