OLIVIA THOMASON’S ART CLASSES BEGIN AT THE VILLAGE CHURCH
STONE MOUNTAIN VILLAGE, GA-The sacred air inside Stone Mountain First United Methodist Church—affectionately known as "The Village Church"—is about to get a lot more colorful. On April 7, the doors open for the return of Olivia Thomason’s art classes.
Ms. Thomason isn’t just a skilled instructor; she is a celebrated folk artist whose vibrant, soulful work is recognized across Georgia and far beyond. Her reputation as a master of the craft precedes her, but in the classroom, “Olivia’s true genius lies in her natural ability to lead and foster friendship,” according to Becky Sanders, a friend, church member and community leader.

“My goal is to make sure everyone is having fun while creating something wonderful,” Olivia says, with the warm, veteran confidence of someone who has seen many "non-artists" discover their spark.
The magic of Olivia’s class isn't just in the technical strokes of a brush; it’s in the transformation of the ordinary. Under her guidance, a plain clay flower pot becomes a whimsical centerpiece, and a tired piece of wooden furniture is reborn as a storied heirloom.
