Boy, 7, Fatally Shot In DeKalb; Dad Charged With Murder
The child was found shot to death around 6:30 p.m. Monday at Rock Chapel Road, police said.
LITHONIA, GA — A 42-year-old father is charges after his 7-year-old son was found shot to death around 6:30 p.m. Monday in the 1800 block of Rock Chapel Road, DeKalb County Police said Tuesday.
Details leading up to the shooting are unknown.
Police said Dante Daugherty was charged on suspicion of two counts of second-degree cruelty to children and one count of second-degree murder. Daugherty was taken to the DeKalb County Jail.

Police did not initially release Daugherty's connection to his son's death but said in a later statement he was not inside of the vehicle when the gun was discharged.
"The victim was inside the vehicle with another juvenile at the time of the shooting," police said in the statement.
