Custodian Found Dead at MLK High School

DeKalb authorities treated the school as a crime scene, but later said there were no signs of foul play.

LITHONIA, GA -- A night custodian at Martin Luther King Jr. High School in Lithonia was found dead at the school Thursday morning.

DeKalb County Public Schools spokeswoman Quinn Hudson told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution early Thursday that the campus was being treated as a crime scene.

"Therefore, we will conduct our emergency relocation process of our students and staff at MLK," Hudson said in an email.

Later, however, the system announced there were no signs of foul play.

Freshmen and sophomores on Thursday were relocated to Arabia Mountain High School in Lithonia and juniors and seniors were relocated to Southwest DeKalb High School in Decatur.

DeKalb County Police spokesman Maj. Stephen Fore said school-resources police were handling the scene. No other details about the situation were immediately available Thursday morning.
