Man Shoots Father During Argument at Family Gathering: Reports

DEKALB COUNTY, GA — The police are investigating a deadly shooting Wednesday night in which a father and son pulled guns on each other, and the son shot the father, according to media reports.
The DeKalb County police were called to the scene at about 11:25 p.m. at a home on Wetherborn Place near Stone Mountain, WSB-TV Channel 2 reported. The incident occurred during a family gathering, when the 53-year-old father and his 30-year-old son got into an argument.

WXIA-TV 11 Alive identified the shooting victim as 53-year-old Heran Parkin. The son's name was not released on Thursday.
During the domestic dispute, Parkin retrieved a gun and pointed it at his son, and in response, the son drew his weapon and fired, striking and killing his father, the DeKalb police told 11 Alive.

The police said it does not appear the son will face any charges, 11 Alive reported.
The police said at least six people were inside the house at the time of the shooting, Channel 2 reported, and the son was being questioned Thursday at police headquarters.
