Miller Grove, MLK Jr. High Schools to Get Renovations, Additions

Miller Grove will get a two-story classroom addition and renovations; MLK Jr.'s construction projects will include a new ninth-grade wing.

Classroom renovations and additions are planned for two high schools in Lithonia.

There was a groundbreaking ceremony today at 10 a.m. for a two-story classroom addition and renovations to common classrooms at Miller Grove High School, 2645 DeKalb Medical Parkway, Lithonia. The $6 million project is
targeted for completion in September 2014, according to a DeKalb County School District spokeswoman.

On Wednesday, Dec. 12, a groundbreaking will take place at Martin Luther King Jr. High, on a new ninth-grade wing, new, administrative area and new common classrooms. The school is located at 3991 Snapfinger Rd. in Lithonia.

The construction work will be paid for through the Special Purpose Local Options Sales Tax (SPLOST), the DeKalb County School District said.

Southwest DeKalb High School in Decatur broke ground Tuesday, Nov. 27, for a
a 35-classroom addition, an auditorium and an amphitheater, and renovations/updates to the existing building.
