Miller Grove Music Teacher on Award Shortlist

A new award for music educators will be presented during next year's Grammys.

The Recording Academy and the Grammy Foundation have announced the quarter finalists for the inaugural Music Educator Award, and a dozen candidates from Georgia are among them.

Keven Shepherd, a music teacher at Miller Grove High School in Lithonia, is on the list.

The Music Educator Award was established to recognize current educators who have made a significant and lasting contribution to the field of music education and who demonstrate a commitment to the broader cause of maintaining music education in the schools, a press release stated.

The winner will be flown to Los Angeles to accept the award, attend the Grammy Awards ceremony, and receive a $10,000 honorarium.
