The Night The Braves Won The World Series
"Angels Over Atlanta," By Artist Olivia Thomason Captured The Historic Event

John Smoltz brought back memories of a magic evening when he and his Atlanta Braves teammates won the World Series. Smoltz, a baseball Hall of Fame member, spoke often about his years with the Braves and teammates like Tom Glavine, Greg Maddux and manager Bobby Cox during the recent telecasts of the Astros-Nationals World Series games.
It was on October 28, 1995, a beautiful fall evening when our home team defeated the Cleveland Indians, winning the World Series, giving Atlanta a rare championship. Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium was packed that night and at least one fan saw angels serenading the Braves and the city.
Olivia Thomason, already established as an admired and highly popular artist, ("always a Braves fan!") was immersed in all the adventure, glamour, suspense and celebration that inspired a painting appropriately titled "Angels Over Atlanta." It captures the magic of the evening while saluting Atlanta's landmarks including the gold dome on the Capitol, the Fabulous Fox, the Varsity and of course, the victorious Braves and their fans.
