One Killed in Stone Mountain Fire

STONE MOUNTAIN, GA -- A house fire late Monday night in Stone Mountain killed the home's lone occupant, fire officials say.

DeKalb County Fire & Rescue was called at about 11:30 p.m. to a fire in the 4100 block of Warrior Trail in Stone Mountain.

They arrived to find heavy flames coming from the front of a two-story home.

Firefighters, who had been notified that someone was likely trapped inside, eventually worked their way inside the home, despite intense flames and structural damage.

Once inside, they found the remains of the person, who is believed to be the homeowner.

Investigators on Tuesday were continuing to try to determine what caused the fire. The remains found were turned over to the DeKalb Medical Examiner's Office for official identification.
