The Power of Bryan's Racquet
A Silent Hero And His Team, Inspire Athletic Change Within Our Communities
When some people think of superheroes, they think of Superman, Wonder Woman or Spiderman. There is a Superhero in our community that is changing lives through the sport of Tennis. Bryan Shepherd is the owner of "Bryan's Racquet", He works tirelessly teaching, coaching and drilling communities throughout Metro Atlanta, in the art of Tennis. Bryan started his journey over 20 years ago, as he set out to offer Tennis Classes to children, adults and seniors. He has a unique gift to encourage and inspire oneself to tap into their inner strengths and talents all while improving their physical fitness.
Bryan is not alone in this work. He has instructors that work with him to complete the powerful team that is transforming lives through motivation and encouragement. Ann McGowan and Emmanuel Alvarez work side by side with him to provide a seamless experience. In the media age of today, we struggle to find activities to motivate us to improve our physical activity and take us away from a sedentary lifestyle. Many families struggle to find activities for their children or themselves that are fun, affordable, and motivating, while improving physical fitness. Bryan’s team has shown the ability to draw families from all over the Metro Atlanta area that wish to add athletic skill and fun filled fitness to their lives. Bryan’s team has many classes for every age range meeting at the Mountain Park of Gwinnett county and the Water’s Edge Subdivision in Stone Mountain.
I sat and watched Bryan and his team work with families from all over the Metro Atlanta area and was very impressed at what I saw. Week after week, these families showed a transformative confidence, skill and athletic ability. The uplifting, welcoming and motivating environment proved well in encouraging growth, learning technique and enhancing social interaction. Oftentimes, communities are barren, leaving families to seek activities outside of their neighborhoods. Most activities are not affordable and do not engage with a personal touch. I have watched families transform as week by week, they participate with smiles on their faces, eager to work with this family of professionals that have proven that Athletics can be fun, inspirational and motivational. I got my daughter involved and see the positive change in her life, mentally, physically, and athletically.

I can’t help but to think that there are many more superheroes in our communities that are hidden. But one thing I can say about this fantastic trio is that they are transforming lives of families across the state. What an awesome movement.
