Update: SWAT Standoff Ends in Lithonia Neighborhood

Fairington Elementary was locked until police rescued a female hostage in what has been called a domestic dispute.

LITHONIA, GA -- A woman being held at knifepoint on Willowick Drive was rescued Wednesday afternoon by DeKalb County SWAT teams.

The domestic dispute was between the woman and a man believed to be her boyfriend, according to Channel 2 Action News.

The standoff began early Wednesday morning, and caused the lockdown of nearby Fairington Elementary School.

Police said another man was in the town home, but was not harmed in the incident.

At one point, access to Willowick was blocked from Fairington Road and Chubb Way. The Fairington lockdown has been lifted.
