Stone Mountain Man Shot, Killed By Police ID'd: GBI

STONE MOUNTAIN, GA — The GBI has identified a man authorities say died after being shot by police Friday in the 900 block of Autumn Crest Court.

The GBI said Saturday the man that was shot was Marando Salmon, 36.

DeKalb County Police was responding to a stolen vehicle call around 11 p.m., when a man inside of the Autum Crest home did not comply to police commands, the GBI said.

After the man reached for a nearby handgun, officers shot him and he later died at Grady Memorial Hospital, authorities said.

No officers were injured in the shooting, authorities said.

This is the 100th shooting involving an officer the GBI has been asked to investigate this year.
