Stone Mountain State Representative Receives Legislator of the Year Award
Karen Bennett receives 2014 Legislator of the Year Award from the Physical Therapy Association of Georgia

ATLANTA (Oct. 23, 2014) – The Honorable Karen Bennett, PT, MS, State Representative of the 94th District of Georgia, received the 2014 Legislator of the Year Award from the Physical Therapy Association of Georgia (PTAG) on Sept. 27. The award recognizes an exceptional Georgia legislator who has supported public policies that advance and improve healthcare in Georgia.
As a member of the House of Representatives’ Regulated Industries Committee and as a physical therapist by profession, Bennett ensures that physical therapists and all healthcare providers are adequately represented in legislative matters in the State of Georgia.
“Representative Bennett’s leadership efforts and willingness to address pertinent issues facing our industry are admirable,” said Dr. Joe Donnelly, president of PTAG. “Her legislative insight and professional expertise have been instrumental to the legislative process in the Gold Dome.”

Criteria for the Legislator Award are based on demonstrated support for PTAG in the legislature, with the public and with other professional organizations that improve and advance the physical therapy profession. Eligible applicants are nominated through a specific selection process and are later voted on by both the PTAG Award and Executive Committees.
