3rd Suspect Charged in Shooting Death of UGA Student from Suwanee

He was charged in the Jan. 13 homicide of Min Seok Cho, allegedly during a drug deal.

Police have arrested and charged a third suspect in the shooting death of University of Georgia student Min Seok Cho on Tuesday, Jan. 13.

Athens-Clarke Police said in a news release that Lucas Amsler Raposo, 20, of Athens, has been charged with felony murder, tampering with evidence and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute for his alleged role in the crime. Cormaine Goss, 21, and Andre Ruff, 18, have already been charged.

Cho, a senior from Suwanee, was pronounced dead at Athens Region Medical Center after he was taken to the hospital in a private vehicle, police said. Police believe the victim was shot in the Baxter Drive area.

“The investigation has confirmed that this senseless violent act was not random,” police said in the news release.

Police believe Cho was killed after a dispute when he and Raposo met with Goss and Ruff to make a marijuana deal.

Goss and Ruff have been charged with felony murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, police said.
