• City responds to two sewage spills (tiftongazette.com) — City crews in Tifton are cleaning up two recent sewage spills on West Golden Road that sent more than 106,000 gallons into a tributary of the Little River Basin. Officials say equipment failure and a power outage, combined with several inches of rain, caused the overflows, and they’re applying hydrated lime and thorough cleanup to protect nearby residents and waterways. 
• Houston pulls away from Blue Devils in 2nd half (tiftongazette.com) — Tift County’s football team fell 56-28 at Houston County after briefly closing the gap to one touchdown, dropping the Blue Devils to 0-2 in Region 2-6A. Local fans now turn their attention to this Friday, when Tift hosts Northside of Warner Robins at Brodie Field, hoping to rebound behind a passing attack that showed flashes of big-play potential.
• Cotton Harvests Stalled Amid Increased Rains (southeastagnet.com) — Recent rains dropped nearly 4 inches on Tifton, slowing cotton harvests and making local fields too wet for safe equipment use. A University of Georgia Extension agronomist urges growers around Tifton and across Georgia to delay harvesting and defoliating until conditions dry, warning that rushing into saturated fields could damage machinery and reduce crop quality.
