The Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta has announced its programs for the remainder of August and September, which are open to the entire community.
Camp Sunday Open House

Details: Come learn about the MJCCA’s Camp Sunday program, an engaging and experiential way to learn about and incorporate Jewish values, customs, and traditions into your children’s daily life. “Campers” will learn Jewish traditions in a non-traditional setting. They will enjoy art projects, nature, dance, cooking, stories, and music while building a solid foundation and love of Jewish traditions.

Taste of Foundations of Jewish Family Living Class at the MJCCA

Details: Join us to learn how the ten session Foundations of Jewish Living Course for PARENTS can help you have the language, learning, and confidence to share Jewish values with your children. Taste of Foundations will give you the opportunity to experience the Foundations of Jewish Living class firsthand and meet the instructor. RSVP Required. Free hour of KidZone Childcare provided. A Taste of Melton and Gallery Reception

Exhibition of Paintings by Archie Rand: GODS CHANGE, PRAYERS ARE HERE TO STAY

Details: These 24 original paintings by internationally-renowned artist Archie Rand provide a visualization of Yehuda Amichai’s beautifully iconoclastic poem on G-d, prayer, and Jewish life. This exhibition also includes the full text of Amichai’s work.

Concert Featuring Musicians George Vass and Laura Gordy

Details: Acclaimed violinist George Vass is renowned on three continents for his unique interpretations and performance style of the classics. Accompanying pianist Dr. Laura Gordy is a celebrated interpreter of contemporary music as well as classical repertoire. They will perform works by Bloch, Beethoven, and Brahms in an intimate concert setting.

MJCCA Day Camp Day at CBM
When: Saturday, Sept. 20, 12:00 – 4:00 pm

Details: Come play on the beach, whoosh down a water slide, hike, or just hang out and play at beautiful Camp Barney. Bring a picnic lunch and we’ll provide the snacks and drinks. Reservations are required.

Dive Into Shabbat - Intown
When: Friday, August 22, 5:00 - 7:00 pm
Where: Emory Student Activity and Academic Center (1946 Starvine Way, Atlanta)
Cost: Free and open to the community
Join the MJCCA, Congregation Shearith Israel, Jewish Kids Groups, and PJ Library for an Intown Shabbat Pool Party and Picnic. The program will take place at Emory’s Student Activity and Academic Center. Open swim and activities begins at 5:00 pm followed by children’s songs at 6:00 pm. Bring your own picnic dinner and enjoy FREE snacks and drinks courtesy of the MJCCA.

Father and Daughter Boating and Picnic

Details: Fathers, spend time bonding with your daughters during our fun-filled afternoon on the lake! Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the scenery before sharing a boat ride with your special girl in our paddleboats and canoes. In addition to open boat time, we will have boat races, art, music, and snacks.

Shofar on Main Street
When: Monday-Friday, Aug. 28- Sept. 23, 11:00 am

Details: The blowing of the shofar, rams horn, is an important part of the Jewish High Holiday season. There is a special tradition of blowing theshofar in the days leading up to Rosh Hashanah to remind us to “wake up,” reflect on the past year, and begin the spiritual preparation for the High Holiday season. All are invited to listen as Rabbi Glusman sounds the Shofar in main lobby and the Fitness Center at the MJCCA.
