The Atlanta-Northlake Lodge #78 of the
Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks is preparing for its Historic 80th
Annual Elks Fish Fry at the Lodge at 1775 Montreal Rd, Tucker, GA to be held
Saturday, August 23rd, from 12pm to 6pm.
This legendary local event began in 1934
and when the Lodge was located on Peachtree St.. Members and Guests would
come to the Lodge for fellowship and great fried fish! Since 1954,
the Lodge has been using an impressive custom built fish fryer affectionately
named “Big Bertha”. This 60 year old fryer is over 25 ft long,
holds 110 gallons of oil and uses a conveyor belt system to move the fish
gently along to fried perfection!
This event is open to the public and
anyone donating $8.50 will receive a generous portion of Alaskan perch,
hushpuppies, coleslaw and cheese grits! There is also an Auxiliary Bake
Sale, Lodge Rummage Sale and a great opportunity to visit our Lodge and learn
about what we do to serve our community. There is plenty
of free parking ... and great fish!
