Taste of “Rosh Hodesh: It’s a Girl Thing!” – Info Meeting For 6th Grade Girls’ Program

Details: Parents and their daughters are invited to “A Taste of Rosh Hodesh,” an informational meeting, where they will get the chance to ask questions about Rosh Hodesh: It’s a Girl Thing!, a program that draws on Jewish teachings to help girls in 6th grade navigate the complexities of adolescent life. This girls’ group will meet one Sunday a month from Sept. 7, 2014 – May 3, 2015, and will focus on specific life lessons that draw on core Jewish values and practices to explore such issues as body image, friendship, family, assertiveness, and social action. Open to the Community.

Les Misérables – Onstage at the MJCCA
When: August 7 – 17, 2014
Where: MJCCA’s Morris & Rae Frank Theatre (5342 Tilly Mill Road, Dunwoody)
Cost: Tickets are $15-28.
Details: MJCCA Arts & Culture is pleased to present Les Misérables, a new production of Boublil and Schönberg’s. Join us as one of the world’s greatest musicals comes to the MJCCA stage. Les Misérables is the winner of over 100 international awards and has become a global success on stage and screen, sweeping audiences through an epic tale of broken dreams, passion and redemption, against the backdrop of a nation seething with revolution.
This program is recommended for ages 14+.

Dive Into Shabbat – Outdoor Pool Party at the MJCCA
When: Friday, August 8, 5:00 – 7:00 pm
Where: MJCCA (5342 Tilly Mill Road, Dunwoody)
Cost: Free and open to the community (Food available for purchase)
Details: Celebrate Shabbat with the JCC and The Epstein School at MJCCA’s pool and splash park. Shabbat songs and blessings with Rabbi Glusman begin at 6:00 pm. Bring your own picnic or purchase Kosher pizza, drinks, and snacks directly from the outdoor grill. Free ice pops, challah and grape juice! Bring your friends and enjoy this unique Shabbat celebration. This event is free and open to the entire community!

Young Adult Weekend at Camp Barney (21-35 year olds)
When: August 15-17
Where: Camp Barney Medintz
Cost: (NEW PRICE!) $99. The price includes all meals and entertainment.
What: Come and join other young adults as we have our first ever young adult weekend at Camp Barney. Sleep in a cabin, celebrate Shabbat with us, enjoy the lake and pool, and socialize with other young adults from all over the Atlanta area.

Camp Sunday Open House (for new families)
When: Sunday, August 17, 11:30 – 12:30 pm
Where: MJCCA’s Camp Alterman (5342 Tilly Mill Road, Dunwoody)
Cost: Free and open to the community
Details: Come learn about the MJCCA’s Camp Sunday program, an engaging and experiential way to learn about and incorporate Jewish values, customs, and traditions into your children’s daily life. “Campers” will learn Jewish traditions in a non-traditional setting. They will enjoy art projects, nature, dance, cooking, stories, and music while building a solid foundation and love of Jewish traditions.

“Taste of” Foundations of Jewish Family Living Class at the MJCCA
When: Sunday, August 17, 10:00-11:00 am

Cost: Free and open to the community
Details: Join us to learn how the ten session Foundations of Jewish Living Course for PARENTS can help you have the language, learning, and confidence to share Jewish values with your children. Taste of Foundations will give you the opportunity to experience the Foundations of Jewish Living class firsthand and meet the instructor. RSVP Required. Free hour of KidZone Childcare provided. Please bring your friends.

Dive Into Shabbat - Intown
When: Friday, August 22, 5:00 - 7:00 pm
Where: Emory Student Activity and Academic Center (1946 Starvine Way 30033, Atlanta, GA)
Cost: Free and open to the community
Join the MJCCA, Congregation Shearith Israel, Jewish Kids Groups, and PJ Library for an Intown Shabbat Pool Party and Picnic. The program will take place at Emory’s Student Activity and Academic Center. Open swim and activities begins at 5:00 pm followed by children’s songs at 6:00 pm. Bring your own picnic dinner and enjoy FREE snacks and drinks courtesy of the JCC. Open to the community.

Foundations of Jewish Family Living Class at the MJCCA

Details: Foundations of Jewish Family Living provides PARENTS with the opportunity to enhance your family’s Jewish journey and continue conversations about Jewish core values at home.
