UPDATE: Mattie's Call Issued for Missing Alzheimer’s Victim

Rufus Holcomb was last seen Jan 9 around 10:30 p.m.

UPDATED: Rufus Holcomb has been located. The Clarkston Police Department received a call from employees at Kids World Daycare, 1144 North Indian Creek Drive, in Clarkston at approximately 2:00 p.m. on 2/10/12.  Holcomb is unharmed and in the process of being reunited with his family. The DeKalb County Police Department is asking for the public’s help in finding a missing Lithonia man, Rufus Holcomb, 76, who suffers from Alzheimer’s. 

Police say Holcomb was last seen at his home, 3502 Eagle Rise, at about 10:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 9. He is believed to have walked away from the location and headed in an unknown direction.

Holcomb is a black male with a light complexion, 5 feet 9 inches, weighing about 149 pounds. He is believed to be wearing pajamas or blue jean overalls, a khaki jacket with several baseball team logos, a black baseball cap and black gym shoes.

Officers were notified about the disappearance around 2 a.m. this morning, police said. A search of the area by uniform and K-9 officers was unsuccessful, so a Mattie’s Call was issued.

Reverse 911 calls have been made to residents in the vicinity of Holcomb’s home, and neighboring police jurisdictions have been notified about his disappearance.
