NETWorks invites community to an Open House with Habitat for Humanity-DeKalb

NETWorks invites community to an Open House following Volunteer Reception, Sun. June 8

NETWorks Cooperative Ministry will host a volunteer reception Sunday, June 8, beginning at 3:00pm followed by an Open House with Habitat for Humanity-DeKalb at 4pm, featuring light hors d'oeuvres and plenty of fellowship.

A partnership of local churches and businesses, NETWorks parners with low-income residents in Northlake, Embry Hills, and Tucker in a variety of programs. It houses a food pantry offering non-perishable items, provides financial aid for housing and utility bills, and recently began a food co-op offering a wide variety of groceries and with a side of friendship twice a month. It also provides referrals to other area resources.

NETWorks is open 10amto 1pm, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. During those hours, trained volutneers talk with neighbors, fill food orders, answer phones, schedule appointments, and complete other ministry tasks.

NETWorks leaders invited nearly 100 current and former volunteers to a cake reception. "I am so grateful for the wonderful volunteers we have at NETWorks," explained Holly Duncan, director of the ministry. "We depend on our volunteers to make the work of NETWorks possible. We want to thank them for their service, and this reception will be a small token of our appreciation."

NETWOrks shares office space with Habitat for Humanity-DeKalb in a former bank building which Wells Fargo donated to Tucker First Baptist Church in 2011. The building suffered extensive water damage over the winter, but new paint, carpet, and lobby furniture have given the space new life. NETWork and Habitat for Humanity-DeKalb invite our community to join a celebration of the renovations.
